David Pearce at 2010 H+ Conference

David Pearce is an independent researcher and vegan animal activist based in Brighton UK.

In 1995, he wrote an online manifesto, The Hedonistic Imperative, advocating the use of biotechnology to abolish suffering throughout the living world. David predicts that our descendants will be animated by gradients of cerebral bliss orders of magnitude richer than anything accessible today.

[In his BLTC (Better Living Through Chemistry) Research websites, most recently The Abolitionist Project] David has also written on the philosophy of mind and perception; utilitarian ethics; psychopharmacology; life extension; cognitive enhancement technologies; mood enrichment; genetic recalibration of the hedonic treadmill; ecosystem redesign; reprogramming predators; and more speculatively on a posthuman future based on paradise engineering.

In 1998, David and Nick Bostrom set up the World Transhumanist Association (now rebranded as Humanity +. Transhumanists promote the responsible use of advanced technology to overcome our biological limitations.

This lecture was recorded on 24th April 2010 at the UKH+ meeting. For information on further meetings please see:

What does it mean to be human and alive?

The thousands of different cultures and languages on Earth have compellingly different answers to that question. “We are a wildly imaginative and creative species,” declares Wade Davis, and then proves it with his accounts and photographs of humanity plumbing the soul of culture, of psyche, and of landscape.

A 2 hour presentation by the eminent ethnobotonist, explorer and cultural anthropologist, Wade Davis, with exquisite photography of the dynamic human spirit from diverse cultures of the world.

Watch the program here. ( There is 4 1/2 minute slideshow before the lecture which you can skip.)

2009 Singularity Summit videos

Past few days I have been enjoying these really fascinating presentations from the 2009 Singularity summit.  Some of this material is sheer brilliance and the subject matters discussed are immensely mind-expanding and thought-provoking:

life extension, Artificial General Intelligence, quantum computing, libertarian cyber-economics, mind-enhancement, human-computer interface, synthetic neurophotonics and the quantum correlates of consciousness!

24 talks and panels uploaded so far and more to come:

Hadronic Mechanics & Entheogens

This is a 3 1/2 hour presentation given by Ananda Bosman for the 2009 Ayahuasca Conference.  In it he covers his extensive research dealing with hyper-relativistic physics, endo-huasca, the pineal gland, ancient esoteric history, the 128 Soma plants of the Rig Veda, the entheogenic origins of language, time & the I Ching, and much much more.   I found a few falsehoods which are presented as fact in the presentation but I still have to say that I have hardly ever seen such significant aspects of the cosmic-human story woven together and revealed so thoroughly.   My mind is utterly blown after seeing this.   The work Ananda has been doing for the past 20 years is massively profound.  (He also helped design the visuals of the trip scenes in Blueberry aka Renegade!)

I was skeptical while watching the long introduction which sounded like a lot of psuedo-science and meta-physical hyperbole but once he begins using the images and animations during the main body of the talk I was flabergasted and extremely happy that I persited past the first few videos.

[If you like Nassim Haramein's work you will love this presentation.]

The Eyes of the Shepardess

Terence McKenna at his gaudiest!  In the this foray he is notifying people about Salvia divinorum.

From Terence McKenna describing S. divinorum:

I’m slightly chicken shit to do the pure compound, which by the way- you do 300 micrograms, understand that what that looks like is a grain of salt.  A small grain of salt is a human effective dose.  It comes on so fast that you have no impression of it coming on at all.  You DO it and then after a while you notice that for a long time you have been staring at something incomprehensible.

And:

If you take a psychedelic and you’re not afraid you did too much, you didn’t take enough. [...]  The experience will unfold and it is beautiful.  It is beautiful… These deep indigo blues, these cerulean blues against blackness that are like neon and this amorphous sea of [?] kind of shapes that are moving and transforming themselves.

Nassim Haramein and The Alien Ark Capacitor

by Evan 057 — Categories: cosmology, lecture, science, singularity, synchronos, technology2 Comments

Our champion of vacuum geometry and spin-cosmology, Nassim Haramein, has started blogging on his Resonance Project website.

Also, he will be featured in what looks to be an intriguing film, Earth Pilgrims, which also will include interviews with Wade Davis, Graham Hancock and others.

[If you have already watched Nassim's extended online talks or DVDs, then you will want to watch these clips from an interview where he discusses further his more, uh... eclectic theories concerning the 'objects' and Ark of the Covenant.]

“This information has a base in science, has a base in physics and it can lead us to being able to reproduce this technology and transform our society- to bring us BACK to a much higher level of technological advancements and evolution but this time with the benefit of five thousand years of maturity that we have gained.” – Nassim Haramein

Beyond the crisis, mindboggling science and the arrival of Homo evolutis

MUST-SEE!

This is a comprehensive and thought-provoking 20 minute presentation by Juan Enriquez from the recent TED conference.  He tells it like it is concerning the economic crisis and then takes us beyond to the volcano of technology that is about to erupt.  With wit and levity Enriquez shows us what is happening in the fields of microbe, tissue and robotics engineering and how they are a part of the birth of a new animal: Homo evolutis.

Recommended lecture:

Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky, That Subliminal kid, delivered another fascinating lecture for the European Graduate School a couple months ago (3 total are uploaded so far).   Miller is a great public speaker and always shares nicely honed philosophies concerning the ramifications of electronic music & sampling culture on society.
