The presenter may seem seem a tad hoaky at first, but bear with it because it turns into quite a lovely, poetic and emotional summary of the emerging, global psychedelic festival culture from Burning Man to psytrance. Might make a nice introduction for those who may not be familiar.

A photo book about California’s festival culture with essays by Erik Davis is now available:
Every summer, they gather: thousands of hippies and ravers, global travelers and graffiti kids, fire dancers and goddess lovers… They come together to party, to pray, to dance, and to craft a visionary culture based on community, self-expression, and a revitalized earth wisdom. These are the new tribes. This book documents this exciting cultural movement.

uplifting video:
Tribal Revival uncovers the stunningly beautiful bodies and wildly creative souls of California’s visionary festival culture. Kyer Wiltshire’s camera exposes the painted, masked and costumed character of each festival, as his panoramic views document the dramatic spectacle. Erik Davis’ essay digs into the historic context and articulates the mythic depth of the festival phenomenon. Meet the tribe that lives their dreams!
