The design of the universe

Astonishing presentation by Nobel-winning astrophysicist, George Smoot, demonstating the massive-scale ordered pattern of the universe.  He shows absolutely beautiful representations of how all the hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe are distributed in neuron-like filaments and dense “walls” separated by vast empty voids.   How did these mega-patterns arise?  Why are they designed in this way?
